A few weeks back while perusing my bloglines I came across a really good idea on dooce.com. Being a dog owner means with all the love and companionship sometimes you have to deal with a little stink. Especially when it comes to dog beds…I love our sweet Pep, but goodness help her she stinks and has gotten stinkier with age. I wash her bed weekly and while the cover comes out smelling pretty good the insides hold on to the not so nice smells so it’s stinky again in no time. Then I found myself reading about dooce’s experiences with the Molly Mutt diy dog bed kit…what a great idea!!! So the idea is Molly Mutt sells these beautiful, classy duvets (I know I know duvet for a dog..but keep reading) in 3 different sizes, circles and rectangles. They are pretty and easy to wash-big plus. So what does one do with a duvet for a dog…ahh here’s the genius…fill it with all your old blankets, clothes, what ever washable clutter you’ve got laying around. Molly Mutt even sells mesh bags to neatly shove all these random things in before over it all with your duvet. It can’t get easier, washable cover +washable insides = not stinky/ugly dog bed!
